Plumas County’s very own locally grown music festival with an emphasis on solar power marks its 22nd year July 13 and 14. Everyone is invited to come to the Taylorsville Campground, set up camp early, and be part of one of the most entertaining events of the summer — the Solar Cook-Off.

The party begins Friday night, July 13, with a lineup of live music that will keep audiences listening and dancing right on into the next evening. Sixteen bands will alternate sets on two stages under the green canopy shade of the parachute that forms the centerpiece for the event. Music continues Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. and going on right through into the night.

In addition to the music, event festivities include craft and food booths, solar displays and information. Guests are encouraged to bring their own homemade or store bought solar ovens and be part of the demonstration. For those who don’t have solar ovens, Blackhawk Solar will have some on hand for sale.

Admission to the entire event is $15. Overnight camping is available and most attendees take advantage of this annual gathering to hang out all day and overnight. Camping is $14 a night with flush toilets and showers available.
