Gold Digger Days organizers have gone all out to make the 2012 event the most spectacular ever for the 50th anniversary of Gold Digger Days and the 150th for the town of Greenville.

The excitement begins Friday, July 20, with a concert by Lacy J. Dalton at 7:30 p.m. on the Main Street Stage, and activities almost every hour throughout the day and night Saturday, July 21.

Hundreds of dollars in cash prizes are offered for a variety of Saturday events, including best parade floats, children’s decorated bicycle and men’s whiskers and legs.

Trophies will be awarded as well, to winners of a chili cook-off and salsa contest.

Entries for the parade and men’s contests are free; chili cook-off entries are $20, with $10 to be given back at the time of setup; and a $5 entry fee will be collected for the salsa contest.

Judging and tasting will be at 1 p.m., with $5 tasting kits available.

Entertainment will abound, with everything from gunfighter shows on Main Street to a fashion show and historical review in the Greenville Town Hall and a hot rod gathering at the Evergreen Market parking lot on Highway 89.

Anything with a motor is welcome at this show, which features lots of prizes, fun and usually a barbecue.

See a complete listing of events on the special Gold Digger pages in the Wednesday, July 18, issues of the Feather River Bulletin, Indian Valley Record and Chester Progressive newspapers.
