Market offers treats for ears and tastebuds

Fresh vegetables tempt market goers with their vibrant colors and leafy greens. The Quincy Certified Farmers’ Market opened Thursday, June 14, at 4:30 p.m. to kick off the extended 14-week season. Shoppers can expect to find another great lineup of music, food and artisan goods at this Thursday’s Quincy Farmers’ Market, starting at 4:30 p.m.

Keep an eye out this week for fresh, free-range chicken from Trails End Farm, straight off the pasture. Shoppers can also plan on cooling off with delicious shaved ice, fruit smoothies and espresso drinks from Hansen’s Cool Shack. Then top it all off with some plump cherries from Chuck at LaViolette Farm.

Johnny Walker and Greg Willis will be entertaining the masses with old-style blues and ragtime from the 1920s through the 1940s. This spunky, high-energy duo performed at the very first Quincy Farmers’ Market 13 years ago. Both passionate musicians, Willis is currently studying music at Humboldt State University, and Walker’s harmonica playing is always jaw-dropping.
