A celebration of pioneer heritage is planned Saturday, June 16, from 9 a.m. to dusk, and will include a barbecue rib cook-off, the Quincy Model A’s, displays of quilts, goat milking and much more.

The day will actually begin at 7 a.m., for many, with biscuits and gravy served up at the Taylorsville Fire Station on Nelson Street by the volunteers of Indian Valley Fire and Rescue.

Plumas County Museum curator Scott Lawson will provide some historical activity at the old Taylorsville School on Thompson Street.

There will be horse and buggy rides, horseshoe pitching, displays of saws and tractors and a sidewalk sale, among other activities from one end of town to the other.

Indian Valley 4-H members will be selling watermelon slices and corn on the cob, and Wolf Creek 4-H will be selling plants.

Giant pumpkin seeds will be available, and local organizations and crafters will have booths with plenty of food and frozen treats available.

The renowned Twain Players will make a rootin’-tootin’ appearance as well.

The event is co-sponsored by the Indian Valley Chamber of Commerce.
