Greenville water is OK, even with storms

Greenville residents used to boil water notices during major storm events may not have noticed, but they did not receive one this time.

The new state-of-the-art membrane filtration system is handling the storms well, according to chief operator Jesse Lawson, and not balking like the previous system.

 

Winterfest to offer Chilly Chili Cook Off

Bit by bit, word is getting out about the line-up of Winterfest activities being sponsored by the Chester-Lake Almanor Chamber of Commerce, the business community and local service organizations.

To date, two events have been announced for Saturday, Jan. 15, the Almanor Basin Chapter of the American Red Cross will host an 8 – 11 a.m. breakfast at the Lake Almanor Elks Lodge in Old Town Chester.

Planning areas are new aspect of updated General Plan

The Plumas County Planning Commission discussed the basic structure of the upcoming General Plan update draft at a joint meeting with members of the General Plan working groups in early December.

Colleen Shade, the General Plan consultant team leader, said one of the new aspects of the document would be “planning areas” delineated on maps by a blue line.

She said a planning area was surrounding or connected to a community and “essentially identifies the boundary to which potential future development may go to.”
