Old-fashioned social set for historic Jonesville Hotel

Feather Publishing
7/18/2012

To celebrate the completion of phase one of the Jonesville Hotel preservation, Jonesville Cabin Owners Inc. is inviting history buffs to the hotel grounds for an old-fashioned social Saturday, July 21, from 1 to 4 p.m. Jonesville is located in Butte County, five miles from Butte Meadows.

The guest of honor is Barbara Greene Maggi, a descendant of Nick and Cassie Stephens, who ran the hotel from 1906 to 1919. Featured are a bluegrass band, historical entertainment, ice cream sundaes, a silent auction and carriage rides.

Proceeds benefit the ongoing preservation of the Jonesville Hotel, the only remaining stage stop hotel on Humboldt Road. Tickets are limited and need to be purchased in advance by calling Patsy, 893-5999; Karen, 345-7525; or Barb, 873-3097. Adult tickets are $25 and tickets for children under 12 are $5.
