It was an evening of celebration and congratulations for the 36 Portola High School seniors who all took a giant step toward their future in front of teachers, family and friends Friday, June 14.

The group of kids showed a clear display of camaraderie and gratitude as they laughed and smiled through the occasion. A majority of the students contributed to the ceremony by making speeches or singing songs. The rest sat eagerly through the event waiting to be introduced as the graduated Class of 2013.

Although earthquakes and forest fires made this year a difficult one, the seniors of Greenville High School did not let that interfere with their academic coursework, or their pending graduation. They surpassed those challenges and, on June 14, were officially announced as the graduating class of 2013.

Members of one of the largest GHS graduating classes in years, 25 students accepted their diplomas, and eight were awarded scholarships.

The weather couldn’t have been better on the evening of June 14 when 30 talented Quincy High School seniors achieved one of the most important milestones of their lives — a high school diploma.

With a 45-piece band under the direction of departing music teacher Tanner Johns playing “Pomp and Circumstance,” the Class of 2013 proceeded onto the Feather River College stadium field watched by hundreds of family members and friends.

Nostalgia for days past and underlying excitement for what the future might bring marked the emotional graduation of the Chester High School Class of 2013.

The obvious bond the 34 graduates have formed over the years was evidenced with the fact that 20 of them had traveled down the same memory lane from kindergarten through grade 12. “The rest we have adopted,” a graduate said.

The Plumas National Forest is soliciting feedback on its current motorized travel management effort (Subpart A) involving national forest system roads that may no longer be needed and/or are posing a risk to a natural or cultural resource. 

“The chief of the Forest Service has directed all national forests and grasslands to identify a road system that provides safe and efficient access for recreation and resource management, while protecting our country’s natural and cultural resources,” said Earl Ford, Plumas National Forest supervisor.
