Local woman loses baby in roll-over accident on Highway 89
A Crescent Mills woman has lost her baby following a vehicle accident this weekend.
At 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, Windy Achor, 26, was driving a 1990 Toyota pickup southbound on Highway 89 approaching Pioneer Road at a stated speed of 40 – 45 mph.
According to the CHP report, Achor allowed the vehicle to drift onto the west shoulder. She attempted to correct by turning to the left. This caused her to re-enter the southbound lane headed toward the northbound lanes. She turned back to the right in an attempt to correct the vehicle. This turning movement caused the pickup to exit the roadway and hit the embankment on the west shoulder of Highway 89.
The vehicle then overturned, striking the roadway, a paddle marker and a milepost marker. The pickup came to rest on its wheels facing northwest.
Achor was wearing a seat belt and received minor injuries during the accident.
Achor was 29 weeks pregnant with a baby boy. She was flown to Enloe Medical Center where she underwent a C-Section and delivered her baby. An hour later the baby died as a result of the vehicle collision.
