  • Not guilty plea: The man charged with first-degree murder in the December, 2014, death of a Greenville woman pleaded not guilty last week.
  • More Jefferson talk: Proponents of the state of Jefferson packed the Board of Supervisors room for the third time April 14, but once again did not walk away with the county’s support.
  • School cuts: The Plumas Unified School District is facing a $3 million budget deficit for the next school year, which will result in funding cuts in many areas.

High winds cause power outages

12/2/2011 - 3:30 p.m. Update - PG&E reports that power has been restored to all areas in Northern California.

12/2/2011 - 6:00 a.m. - The Northstate has been spared the extensive power outages experienced in Southern California, but we have not esccaped entirely.  Many Plumas and Lassen County residents are still without power this morning and its being blamed on this wind. PG&E reports 380 outages total in the Northstate. 229 of them are in Plumas County near Bucks Lake and Quincy. 125 of them are in the Mineral/Mill Creek area east of Red Bluff. The rest of them are single customers without power.

The power outages were caused by high winds and are expected to be repaired by later this afternoon.

The high winds are expected to diminish somewhat today.
