These are a few of the stories you will find in this week's printed newspaper:

  • New state: Proponents of the state of Jefferson pushed the Plumas County Board of Supervisors to sign a declaration of support Jan. 20, but they didn’t get it.
  • Nursing home to close: Healthcare leaders learned that the skilled nursing hospital in Quincy is slated for closure, which would result in the relocation of more than three dozen patients and the loss of 60 jobs.
  • Program sacked: Judge Ira Kaufman is no longer sentencing people to drug court. He said he was ending the program because clients weren’t being served.

Traffic control update for Highway 70 near Keddie

Feather Publishing
10/14/2011 update

PG&E spokesman Paul Moreno with an update for the power pole replacement at the Spanish Creek Bridge, "PG&E crews have made very good progress and we expect to complete repairs to this line by about 9 p.m. Thursday Oct. 13, and restore power to the 20 customers impacted.  We were able to do this work by installing only two new poles.  PG&E crews numbering more than a dozen workers installed the new poles and wires."

This should eliminate the need for controlled traffic at the construction site.
