  • A second chance: The new Day Reporting Center in Quincy held a grand opening that featured a recognition ceremony to honor achievements of people in the Alternative Sentencing Program.
  • Classrooms closed: Just days before classes were to begin, Quincy Elementary School staff were packing up classrooms in one wing of the structure because a roof needed to be replaced.
  • Body of missing man found: A search for missing Feather River College alumnus Lucius Robbi ended in Idaho with the discovery of his body and car. He was believed to have died from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle crash.

Stop and Remember event this Sunday

On Sunday, Sept. 11, fire departments nationwide will be sounding sirens and ringing fire bells in honor of the 343 firefighters who lost their lives in the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Plumas County fire departments will be gathering to participate in this memorial and sounding the alarm at 10 a.m. Sunday morning.

Quincy residents that would like to participate are welcome to join Quincy firefighters and families at either Quincy Fire Station One at 505 Lawrence St., or Quincy Fire Station Two at 49 Alta St. in East Quincy. Alarms will sound promptly at 10 a.m. Sunday morning.
