These are a few of the stories you will find in this week's printed newspaper:

  • Townhalls attract crowds: Assemblyman Brian Dahle and Sen. Ted Gaines met with constituents in Quincy and Chester during a three-meeting swing through Plumas and Lassen counties.
  • New leader: After nearly three decades, the Plumas County Mental Health Commission has a new leader. Supervisor Kevin Goss was named to replace Hank Eisenmann.
  • Home away from home: As of last week, new homes had been found for all of the patients at Quincy Nursing & Rehabilitation and most had already moved.

8/9/2011 Update

The Indian Valley Community Services District Ordinance Committee will meet today, Tuesday, Aug. 9, at 5:30 p.m. They will discuss, at length, the sewer leaks found in the system during the ongoing smoke testing and what can be done about them. The meeting will be in their new office located across from their old office on Highway 89, between Greenville Cottage Antiques and Plumas Bank. The committee will probably make a report to the board during their regular meeting Wednesday, Aug. 10, at 6:30 p.m., in the Indian Valley Community Center, also located on Highway 89, on the other side of the antique shop.

Residents got a little excited in the Wolf Creek neighborhood of Greenville today, when Indian Valley Community Services District personnel began smoke testing the sewer lines.

BlowinSmoke

A possible house fire was called in, but the smoke didn't really smell right. The smoke is non toxic, and residents that have smoke in their homes should seek plumbing help. Testing will continue today. Bill payers were notified on their bills and via a front-page story in their local newspaper.
