Fair parade organizer Nanci Luce announced Thursday that longtime fair volunteers Willo Vieira and Fred Surber will be this year’s parade grand marshals.

Vieira has worked at the fairgrounds in a variety of roles, paid and unpaid. Surber has long been responsible for the beautifully planted flowerbeds and the horticultural and agricultural fair entries each year.

The parade starts at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 13, from Safeway and moves down Main Street to the courthouse. Luce said the announcers’ stands would be at the Quincy Natural Foods office adjacent to the school district lawn, the Main Street Sports Bar and the courthouse.

Parade divisions include floats, bands, novelty, adult and youth decorated bicycles, motor vehicles, horses and equipment. The entry fee is $10 and applications are available from the Quincy Chamber of Commerce on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Shear Pleasure, Monday through Saturday, and La Casa Bella.
