W-R made his mistakes, but this all started because of men caught committing a crime. 6 grown men do not just decide to commit a randomly crime out of the blue. Have the remaining 5 men been charged for the crimes that got there getaway driver killed? Are they in a gang? Was there an actual crime?

“If that was the scenario (exchange of gunfire), the charges that have been filed in this case would have been entirely different,” Plumas County District Attorney David Hollister said. “But that scenario is not something that I have seen from the evidence.”

You people have created a society in which criminals are transformed into victims. Your perception of what's right and wrong is seriously construed, our country is filled with a bunch of bleeding heart liberal cowards.

I sympathize for the deceased and injured but I refuse to create a monster of Mr. Reed. You bleeding heart liberal sissies are the reason justice is never properly served. People like OJ and Casey Anthony walk free and the reason criminals can sue their victims.

Also was there possibly more to it than just stealing some petty solar lights? These aren't just boys being boys these are 20 year old men. That sophomoric behavior is out the window now. I'm sure Mr. Allen was trying to enjoy his time with his family before these punks decided to steal from them.

It's so easy for all of you to judge and say what he should have done or what you would have done however you are all ignorant of the details involved. First of all do you know where Antelope Lake is? Is there indefinite cell phone reception there? How long would the police have taken to show up?

Whatever happened that night, i cant imagine ANYTHING justifying acting all vigilante, jumping into his truck and chasing those young men down & FIRING 3 SHOTS! The police are trained for this - maybe a call to 9-1-1 would have saved lives.

U list all the credits to this mans name-served his country-a family man - unfortunately we cant do that for the young man who died since he wasnt given the chance to live long enuf

Jimbo you are right , but could we not also say that your friend should have done the same , like call the law and find out why the kid took the lights ? he will get a fair trial , but the dead boy will not , I am sorry for all familys involved

Tanner- no one deserves that. You're a sick idiot and anyone who thinks that someone "deserves" to be murdered needs to get mentally evaluated.

Andrea- ps "protecting what he worked for" you really are a piece of work. THINGS are never worth a life. I'm sure you would feel the same way if this happened to you or someone you love. You need to pull your head out of your a**.
