Fifth annual Taste of Plumas event tickets now on sale

Organizers are recommending that folks buy their tickets early for the fifth annual Taste of Plumas, scheduled for Saturday, April 9, at the Plumas-Sierra County Fairgrounds in Quincy.

The culinary extravaganza, a major fundraiser for Plumas Arts, is one of the most anticipated events of the season - and it has sold out every year. Annual rave reviews build the returning crowd.

Organizers suggest patrons purchase their tickets before April 1 because the event is expected to sell out once again this year. This also gives the restaurants and event organizers enough time to plan.

Organizing staff reports that there are more restaurants and wineries participating this year than ever before. Also worth noting, despite the economic times the admission price remains at the 2007 and 2008 levels. General admission is $35 and includes one souvenir wine glass and the opportunity to savor samples from more than 20 restaurants and culinary businesses.

Plumas Arts members pay a discounted presale admission of $30. Folks can take this opportunity to become a member with their benefit ticket purchase and commence their support and savings with this initial investment.

Tickets are available at the Plumas Arts Gallery at 372 Main St. in Quincy, online by credit card at plumasarts.org/shop or by calling Plumas Arts at 283-3402.

"This is such a wonderful event. It is a joy to pull it all together. We are really pleased at how many great restaurants and food and wine businesses come back to us each year. We are also happy to note that we will have new establishments with us this year," comments Roxanne Valladao, executive director of Plumas Arts. "We have a full line-up but as of today there are a few spaces left for restaurants who might still want to join us. Just give a call to Plumas Arts at 283-3402.

"The beautiful part is this is very much a win-win-win situation for all who participate. The culinary artists win because we inspire them to present themselves and showcase some of their best work to a very interested audience. The public wins an opportunity to be the beneficiary of such creative endeavors and meet the artists who rarely have the opportunity to leave their kitchens. We know that many attendees use this event to create a wish list of where to go out for great meals in all parts of county. Plumas Arts wins by celebrating culinary artists and presenting them to a very interested clientele while enjoying a most necessary and appreciated financial boost."

Plumas Arts is the region's most active cultural programming organization. Plumas Arts brings art programs to county schools; events and performances to local audiences; coordinates a regional cultural events calendaring system in print and online at plumasarts.org; works collaboratively with numerous organizations and groups; hosts Words & Music and a gallery of regional artists as well as manages the Town Hall Theatre.

"The Taste" also includes samples from numerous wineries and microbrew beers from around the North State and beyond. Another great part of the event is a silent auction with a festive selection of services and adventures, fine art and unique items.
