Veterans Service Office still in a state of flux
Plumas County Administrative Officer Jack Ingstad recently announced Veterans Service Officer Sheryl Austin would stay with the county until Wednesday, Dec. 15.
He also reported the county was speaking with a former employee about taking over the VSO position on an interim basis until a permanent hire could be made.
The CAO indicated the Board of Supervisors would likely discuss, at a Tuesday, Dec. 7, meeting, the formation of a panel of veterans to help select a new VSO.
He said the board would also be presented with action items requesting the short-term extension of Austin’s contract and possibly an interim hire at that meeting.
In the meantime, Ingstad said recruitment for the position has begun and the county has already received some applications.
He added Austin is assisting the county with leads on people who might be interested in the position and where to place ads.
