These are a few of the stories you will find in this week's printed newspaper:

  • New state: Proponents of the state of Jefferson pushed the Plumas County Board of Supervisors to sign a declaration of support Jan. 20, but they didn’t get it.
  • Nursing home to close: Healthcare leaders learned that the skilled nursing hospital in Quincy is slated for closure, which would result in the relocation of more than three dozen patients and the loss of 60 jobs.
  • Program sacked: Judge Ira Kaufman is no longer sentencing people to drug court. He said he was ending the program because clients weren’t being served.

Kathy Williams, Plumas County Clerk/Recorder, reports that her office is getting many calls from people who didn't receive their "Measure B ballot." The reason they didn't receive ballots, however, is that they're not in the Plumas District Hospital area.

The hospital district stretches from approximately Indian Falls in the west, up through Meadow Valley, encompasses the greater Quincy area, and stretches east as far as Cromberg.

Only registered Plumas County voters who also reside in the hospital district can vote in the Measure B election.

Election results will be available at 8:00 p.m. in the Plumas County Courthouse, Elections Division. They'll be posted by Feather Publishing at www.plumasnews.com shortly thereafter.
