Highways reopened, Forest closure remains in Lassen fire-affected areas
Other areas of the Forest remain open for recreation, such as camping and hiking - for example Big Pine Campground on the Hat Creek Ranger District.

The Eiler Fire, four miles southeast of Burney, has burned 31,772 acres on the Lassen National Forest and adjacent lands. Containment is now at 40 percent, with full containment projected for Aug. 20. The 1,874 personnel assigned to the fire will work to hold and improve the perimeter.

The Bald Fire, southeast of Fall River Mills, has burned 39,926 acres, and containment has increased substantially to 91 percent. Full containment is now expected by tomorrow, Aug. 8. The more than 900 personnel assigned will improve fireline and conduct mop-up operations.

The Day Fire, located northeast of Fall River Mills, is 13,153 acres and is now 85 percent contained, with full containment expected by Aug. 9. Mop-up operations continue as some 1,300 personnel remain assigned to the fire.
