Former Indian Valley Community Services District General Manager Leanna May Moore pleaded “no contest” to felony embezzlement and forgery charges Friday afternoon in Plumas County Superior Court.

According to the District Attorney’s Office, the case represented the largest embezzlement of public funds in the history of Plumas County.

Moore, 42, was accused of stealing $676,375 when she worked as the district’s GM from 2006 to 2012.

Her “no contest” plea came two days after Superior Court Judge Ira Kaufman ruled there was sufficient evidence for Moore to be tried on the four felony charges and an enhancement.

She is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 12 where she faces up to 10 years in prison.

A complete story will be featured in June 25 issues of Feather Publishing newspapers.
