Graeagle Meadows Women

  Following monthly Ace of Aces competitions, the Graeagle Meadows Women's Golf Club had the final playoff Sept. 30. The winner for low gross was Priscilla Piper with Donna Swanson winning for low net.

With a beautiful new scoreboard in use for its first ever game, the Portola High School football team christened it with a thrilling 39-36 victory over Hamilton last Friday.

“We battled all night,” said Portola coach Steve Heskett. “We played four quarters of football.”

  

Lady Vols stage a remarkable turnaround

It was one of the most remarkable turnarounds anybody had ever seen in a high school volleyball game.

After being handily beaten in the first two games and falling behind 15-8 in game three, it looked as if the Chester Volcanoes were going to lose 3-0 in an important league match against Redding’s University Prep last Thursday night.

Portola and Quincy soccer teams do battle

The sideline was packed at Quincy’s soccer field last Saturday, when the Quincy and Portola boys’ and girls’ soccer teams met for back-to-back matches amid homecoming celebrations.

All the spectators from Quincy and Portola were treated to two very good matches.
