The event pits snowmobile drivers against each other in a series of drag races. There’s one difference, however: the snowmobiles drag race on the grass. Last year’s races brought around 50 competitors to the fairgrounds.
Rescued garter snake
Question: We own a pet store in Northern California and also help to rescue animals and then place them in suitable homes. A client recently asked us to help rescue a 12-year-old garter snake and then adopt it out back to a good home. My questions are, is it even legal for us to possess a garter snake within our shop? Next, if we are able to possess it in our shop, can we charge our standard adoption fees to a new owner for our services in order to help place this snake in a new home?
Feather River College jumped to an early lead and defeated visiting Merced, 41-28, last Saturday.
The Golden Eagles improved to 2-2 with the win, while Merced dropped to 1-3.
“They say you forget your troubles on a trout stream, but that’s not quite it. What happens is that you begin to see where your troubles fit into the grand scheme of things, and suddenly they’re just not such a big deal anymore.” —John Gierach

The problem is there is just too much to do.
Plumas County’s high school football teams played pretty evenly last weekend with two wins and two losses. Chester (4-0) stayed undefeated with a 14-6 win against Burney on Sept. 27. Greenville (3-2) won its Sept. 28 game 40-36 against Herlong.
On Sept. 27, both Quincy (1-3) and Portola (2-2) fell to their opponents. Quincy lost its homecoming game 25-18 to Durham while Portola lost hard, 45-17, to Hamilton. Quincy was the only team last week to play at home.
