 80 YEARS AGO... 1930
    June 8 has been set as the date for the official dedication of the Quincy aeroplane landing field. At least eight aeroplanes will be present at the field's dedication. Buzz Morrison of Reno will be on hand with the wonderful sister ship of the "Spirit of St. Louis". A grand ball will precede the night before. Admission to the flying field: 50 cents. Admission to the grand ball: $1.50.

     Advertisement: Sorsoli Hotel in Crescent Mills is the place for high class Italian dinners. Sunday special: Milk fed chicken dinners.

 80 YEARS AGO....1930

     Census figures made public today give to Plumas County a total population of 7,909 as against 5,681 in 1920. This is a clear gain of 228 over the last ten year period.
     At a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Plumas County High Schools, W.A. Kingdon of Crescent Mills was elected president for the ensuing year with E.I. Lane of Portola vice president and Mrs. A.L. Bar of Quincy secretary and clerk for the fourth consecutive year.

 80 YEARS AGO... 1930
    The Plumas County Board of Supervisors in session Monday authorized the issuance of a soft drink license to Melvin L. Speagle and Mella T. Roberts, both of Chester.
    C. R. Clark, businessman of Taylorsville, plans to start erection of a 40 foot by 80 foot garage building upon a corner lot opposite of the Golconda Hotel. He is also erecting a 12,000 gallon capacity water tank in the rear of the hotel that will supply water to the hotel and provide a reserve for fire protection. Also at Taylorsville at the hotel, new floors will be laid and walls covered and painted.
