Legal: Sections 3, 10 & 15 of T. 26 N., R. 10 E.; and sections 17, 18, 19, 20, 27, 28, 29, 33 & 34 of T. 27 N., R. 10 E.; MDM. Opportunity to Comment on the Lock 3 Mining Project
(Previously published as Lock 2, name change only)
The Forest Service, Plumas National Forest, Beckwourth Ranger District, is proposing to approve a Plan of Operations for mineral exploration. The Plan of Operations would allow claim owner James Astesana to conduct exploratory mining activities on National Forest System lands. Exploratory mining would consist of excavation of one test trench. Material would be evaluated by metal detector. The location of the proposed exploration is east of Gold Lake; T21N, R12E, Section 14, MDBM.
This plan would be valid for a period of two (2) years.
This comment period is intended to provide those interested in or affected by this proposal an opportunity to make their concerns known prior to a decision being made by the Responsible Official. Those who provide comments or otherwise express interest in the proposal by the close of the comment period will be eligible to appeal the decision pursuant to 36 CFR part 215 regulations.
How to Comment and Timeframe
Written, facsimile, hand-delivered, oral, and electronic comments concerning this action will be accepted for 30 calendar days following the publication of this notice in the Portola Reporter. The publication date in the newspaper of record is the exclusive means for calculating the comment period for this analysis. Those wishing to comment should not rely upon dates or timeframe information provided by any other source. The regulations prohibit extending the length of the comment period.
