PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: On Monday July 09, 2012, at the hour of 10:00 a.m. in the Supervisors Room in the Courthouse at 520 W. Main St., Quincy, the Board of Supervisors will meet as the Plumas County Board of Equalization. Opportunity to Comment on Gold In Rivers Mining Proposal
The Forest Service, Plumas National Forest, Mt. Hough Ranger District, is preparing a Decision Memo for approving a Plan of Operations for the Gold in Rivers #2, #3, #4 and #5 mining claims. The Plan of Operations would allow lessee and operator, Douglas Hood, to conduct exploratory placer mining activities on National Forest System lands. The operator's proposal involves core drilling with a mobile hydraulic drill or a track drill. Operations may be extended to include trenching using a rubber tired loader/backhoe. Material will be processed through a 20 yard per hour trommel with self-contained recirculating water supply. The location of the proposed exploration is Seneca, north of NFS Road 26N14; T26N, R8E, Section 16 and 17, MDBM. The proposed action description and other information are available for review at the Mt. Hough Ranger District. In light of a recent court ruling (Sequoia ForestKeeper v. Tidwell, 11-cv-00679-LJO-DLB (E.D. Cal.)), the Forest Service will provide public notice, comment, and opportunity for administrative appeal for projects and activities documented with a "Decision Memo" (36 CFR 220.6(e)) until new instructions are issued by the Washington Office, or the Agency issues regulations addressing the Court's ruling. In addition, the Forest Service will prepare Decision Memos and offer notice, comment and appeal opportunities for timber sales and proposed approvals of oil or gas exploration and development activities that rely upon Section 390 of the Energy Policy Act of 2005. Only those who provide comment or express interest in this proposal during this comment period will be eligible to appeal the decision pursuant to 36 CFR part 215 regulations._

Recycling/solid waste meeting

The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 28, 2012, beginning at 6:00 PM in the Quincy Library, 445 Jackson Street, Quincy. All permanent and seasonal residents, property owners, business owners and the general public are invited to attend. Questions by the public will be encouraged.
