75 YEARS AGO.........1937

Thirty acts form all parts of the Feather River Wonderland competed in the second annual Plumas County Amateur Hour. Sponsored by the Plumas County Chamber of Commerce, first place was won by Elsie Rice Gilbert of Twain. She won an airplane trip to San Francisco to attend the Golden Gate bridge Fiesta.  Her three-day stay in San Francisco will give her the opportunity to deliver a message that the new $8,000,000 Feather River Highway is soon to be opened into California's premier vacation county. Cash prizes of $20.00, $12.50, $5.00 and $2.00 were also awarded.

50 YEARS AGO.......1962

25 YEARS AGO.............1987

Plumas County Board of Supervisors members Don Woodhall, Bill Coates, John Schramel, Jim Gossett and Leonard Ross locked up the front entrance door of the Plumas County courthouse with chains as a symbolic action to protest unfunded programs mandated by the State of California, as a plea for understanding from state legislators of the fiscal crisis facing Plumas County.

10 YEARS AGO......2002

A handmade replica of a Civil War cannon made by Chester resident Bill Collins will be dedicated at the new Chester cemetery on Memorial Day. The replica is made of wood and fiberglass and was donated to the cemetery district.
