Here at Feather Publishing, we start the New Year with some new faces, some returning ones and a few “old” ones in new positions.
Copyeditor Mona Hill has moved to a staff writing position. Her fans will be glad to know that she will continue to write her Gentle Reader and Accidental Gardener columns for us. She will also cover Plumas District Hospital, Feather River College and the fair. She will handle school and about-town activities in Quincy, too.
Ingrid Burke will fill Mona’s shoes at the copyediting desk. Ingrid worked for us several years ago, but left to explore other career options. She has since decided to return. We welcome her keen eye!
In our Portola office, Diana Jorgenson is moving to half time as she prepares for retirement. We have hired Christian Young to fill the other half of that position. She starts this week and brings with her extensive training and experience in college journalism. Glad to have you on board, Christian.
We are still dividing up the workload between Diana and Christian. So far, we know Diana will continue to cover the Portola City Council, while Christian will take on the Eastern Plumas Health Care beat.
You may have noticed that we have been running a fitness column by Chuck Norris. Why Norris, you may ask?
Norris is a resident of Chester. Todd DuBord, former pastor of Lake Almanor Community Church, now works with Norris. It was through our Chester office’s connections with DuBord that we were able to arrange to run the column. Thanks go to Chester Editor Kate West for orchestrating that.
We are pleased with these changes and believe they result in the strongest staff line-up we have had in many years. We feel well positioned to cover whatever news may arise in Plumas County in 2011.
