The Almanor Ranger District of the Lassen National Forest is conducting prescribed burns. Hand piles and machine piles are being burned in several locations. Burning is conducted in close coordination with the Air Quality Control District and under weather conditions that should minimize smoke impacts to communities, however some smoke impact may occur.
Locations of the burns are as follows:
Prattville Hand Piles: 13 acres - 9mi SE of Chester
Storrie Machine Piles: up to 174 acres - 15mi SW of Chester
Battle Machine Piles: up to 428 acres near the community of Mineral
Jonesville Machine Piles: ~125 acres adjacent to Jonesville
Size: up to 740 total acres, depending on weather
What: Hand and Machine Pile Burning
Ignition beginning Tuesday, November 16 continuing through Friday, November 19
Ignition on projects could last three days; smoke production could continue three additional days after ignition
Smoke Sensitive Areas: Smoke could impact Highways 89 and 36 in the vicinity of Prattville and Mineral and the communities of Mineral & Jonesville
