Golf Results for the week of 9/22/2010

2010 Graeagle Meadows Men's Club Championship
The 2010 Graeagle Meadows Men's Club Championship was a great success.

Over 50 men entertained (and tortured) themselves for the 36-hole event by hitting many great golf shots and a few not-so-great shots.

This year there were two hole-in-one on the 16th hole; one by Ron Rogers with a well struck 7-iron and the other by Ted Leavitt with an equally well-hit 6-iron. Thus, twice the celebration occurred at the 19th hole. Life is great in Graeagle.

This year's low gross and Men's Club champion is Michael Herrington - his fourth year in a row - and second place went to Gary Maniery, with both players demonstrating their fine golf skills. This year's overall low net score was posted by John Sciborski in the 1st Flight and followed in second place by a tie between Chuck Pratt and Jack Cornish.

Second Flight Low Net was posted by Richard Eck and second place was Joel Patterson.

Third Flight Low Net was posted by Ron Rogers and second place was Gary Kinkley.

Fourth Flight Low Net was posted by Tom Fregulia and second place was Bill Kennedy.

Mt. Huff Thursday Night Scramble
The lovely evening of Sept. 16 brought out seven teams for our Thursday Night Scrambles. The weather was perfect and the golfers were on. The team of Mike Ruggeri, Richard Mauldin, Joe Pogue and Jeff Stevens came in third at 4 under. The team of Bill McRoberts, Jimmy LaPlante, and Steve Ross came in second after a chip off between them and the team of Mike Beatty, Eric John, Ron Christensen and Loren Lindner came in first after they had tied at 5 under. It is still not too late to have a good time.

Longest drive was won by Slammin' Leaf Van Pelt and closest to the pin was won by Greg Stevens.

Our famous Big 6 Tournament will be Oct. 2nd, call for more details.

Lake Almanor West Women's Golf
The game for this week was Odds or Evens with each player selecting their best nine holes - either odd holes or even numbered holes - and subtracting half of their handicap.

The winners in each flight were: First Flight, Linda Kluge, first place and Julie Azevedo second place. Second flight was Karen DeMoe in first and Betty Duncan in second. The third flight saw a tie between Cheryl Springfield and Barbara Grams with Cheryl edging out Barbara with a tie breaker. Linda Kluge had a birdie on hole #3 and Karen DeMoe had a birdie on Hole #15. Barbara Rolland had a chip-in on Hole #9 and Karen DeMoe had one on Hole #14.

Last week, due to cooler weather, only a few ladies played without having a formal game. However, Faunie Menke broke 100 for the first time on ladies day and was awarded the appropriate pin for her accomplishment.

Next week is the ladies group's end-of-the-year tournament, "Invite Your Mate." The game will be a couples tournament with six holes of a scramble, six holes of best ball and six holes of alternate shots. There will be a lunch on the club house deck following play and awards will be given there for the tournament and also for the Eclectic Tournament and the Ringer Tournament which took place during July and August.

All ladies wishing to play with the club next year need to complete the membership form and pay their registration fee for 2011 by the end of September. The forms are available in the pro shop. You can turn your check and form in at the pro shop at any time before Sept. 30.
