Proponents and opponents of Measure B will be on hand Thursday, July 29, to answer questions at a community forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Plumas County.
The forum, which starts at 7 p.m., will be held at the Quincy Veterans' Hall. Moderators will be League members who do not live in the Plumas District Hospital district.
Ballots will be mailed Monday, Aug. 2, to registered voters who live within the hospital district.
Measure B was proposed by local residents in response to the taxation rate for hospital bonds issued through Measure A, approved by voters in July 2008. Measure B would set the property taxation rate at $50 per $100,000 of assessed valuation. Under Measure A, the rate rose to $125 per $100,000.
The forum is designed to provide information about the taxation rate, which has been hotly debated in a public controversy that has been divisive at times.
The Cap the Tax group, which supports Measure B, will share the podium with the Save Our Hospital group, which opposes it.
The forum will follow the format used at the League's election forums, which it has held in Plumas County for 16 years.
