Mt. Huff
Mt. Huff has had a very busy week. On June 13, CASA held a very successful tournament with forty golfers. Everyone seemed to enjoy the course, the view and the food. We are open for tournaments whether for a cause or you just want a fun place to get your family together.

On Tuesday, seven ladies showed up for our Ladies Day. Since we are just learning and have been learning for many years, we just play for fun, and fun is what we have. We tee off at 9:30 and all are welcome.

Wednesday is Ralph's Scramble, check in at 8:30 tee off at 9:00.

Thursday we fielded nine teams for our Scramble. The weather was amazing and so was the fun. There was a 3-way tie for second, Jerry Quam, Greg Stevens and Mike Ingle, had a chip off and Greg took the win. First place went to the team of David Smuts, Jeff Stevens and Gary Metzdorf with a six under.

Auston "the better man" Linford had the longest drive and Steve "to the point" Ross got closest to the pin.

We would love to see you out, we have ladies and gentlemen and all skill levels. We are also holding a Jack and Jill tournament on Sunday, June 27. It is an alternate shot scramble. Sign up today.

Mt. Huff
Wednesday Morning Scramble

The thunderstorms blew away and the golfers had a cool sunny day for the Wednesday Morning Scramble at Mt. Huff.

First place team: Jim Bryant, Ralph Cote, Dick Grace, Leo Sorosinski

Second place team: Bill Arave, Gary Hughes, Loren Lindher, Jerry Quam

Closest to pin competition was won by Leo Sorosinski and the Chip-in was won by Jerry Hobbs.

Whitehawk Ranch
The Whitehawk Ranch Ladies Golf Club was finally able to begin their "Ace of Aces" competition. The scheduled first round in May was cancelled due to an unexpected spring snowstorm. Low gross winner was Lynn Smith who shot a 75 and the low net winner was Denise Smith with a 65.

There is also a game being played called, "Criers." Each player was given 100 percent of their handicap and everyone got to replace their two worst golf hole scores with a par score. The winners were Lynn Smith in first place, Denise Stein in second place and Marcia Zeigler in third.

The WHRLGC has begun their match play competition with the first round due to be played by the end of June.

Bailey Creek Women's Golf
Despite a nippy north wind, it turned out to be a beautiful day for the Bailey Creek Women's Club's first playday of the season on Wed., June 16. Kim Holliday, Joan Eychner and Karen Blue tied Lee Hunter, Carolyn Soper and Jenni Cesarin, in a "three person, best ball game."

The group met following the game to make plans for the rest of the season. The club will play on the 2nd Wednesday and 4th Sunday of each month until the course closes, with the next play day scheduled for Sunday, June 27, at 1:30 p.m.

Anyone interested in joining - or just checking us out, should contact Jenni Cesarin or Kim Holliday, or pick up a membership application at the Pro Shop. All abilities are welcome and the club looks forward to a terrific and fun season.

Plumas Pines Women's Club
Along with the continuous individual Eclectic match play games, the regular game of the day on June 15th was Magic Putt. Two 1 putts could be taken on any green, one on the front 9 and one on the back. In the first flight, Renee Walker won Low Gross and Annie Meyer won 2nd Low Gross. Low Net was won by Scooter Kidwell and Mary Stonebraker won 2nd Low Net. In the second flight, Jennifer Zumbro won Low Gross and Sandee Simpson won 2nd Lot Gross. Shirley Agnos won Low Net and Janet Grijalva won 2nd Lot Net. Three ladies got to split the pot for their chip-ins: Beverly Donato, Shirley Agnos, and Renee Walker. The Single Eclectic continues into July as well as the Match Play event. Planning the Invitational "Chips Ahoy! At Plumas Pines" is in full swing now and there are only a few spots open. If you are interested in playing, please call Renee Walker at 836-4119. It's going to be another great event with great golf, great food, and great performances (by the pro shop staff) worthy of the entry fee!

Lake Almanor West
Seventeen members and one guest came out to play "one putts," a new game for us. Scores were calculated by subtracting every one putt made from the net score.

First flight winners were Kathi Shennan in first and Karen Nelson in second. Winners in the second flight were Karen De Moe in first and Sally Weller in second. Faunie Menke came in first in the third flight and Cheryl Springfield was second place winner.

Linda Kluge's third shot rolled in the hole on #7 for an Eagle! Congratulations to Linda. Chip-ins were made by Barbara Rolland on Hole #5 and Faunie Menke on Hole #3. This also gave Faunie a Birdie. Lori Sinclair had an amazing ten putts for the round and a chip-in on Hole #3. Great playing by all!

Next week's game will be Poker Run. Check-in is 8:30 with tee-off at 9:00 am.

LACC Women's Golf

We had a full field of three flights on June 15 to compete for gross scores and our monthly game for low putts. In the first flight, Carol Fara and Madeline Furman tied for first place. Jan Vortmann, Darlene Donaldson, and Kathy Chuchel tied for third place. That was some tight competition ladies!

In the second flight, Marcia Spooner came in first place and was our low putt star with 29 putts. Kathy Fuller came in second and broke a 100 for the first time with a score of 99. Nice job Kathy! Jill Dalton, last week's ace and Sandy Feeney tied for third place. Karen Schmidt and Carolyn Lowrey tied for fifth place. Again, very close competition.

Our closest contest, however, was in the third flight with Madeline Protsman coming in first, Claudine Gurney second, and Angie Gamble third. Each separated by only one stroke.

Helping to contribute to all this strong competition, Madeline Furman had a birdie on hole #18 and Martha Herr had a birdie on hole #8. Chip-in honors go out to Carolyn Lowrey on hole #16, Madeline Furman on hole #13, and Martha Herr on hole #8.

Congratulations to all our winners!

Graeagle Meadows

Women's Golf

Following rounds on June 10 and June 14, the Graeagle Meadows Women's Golf Club completed their Captain's Cup Tournament. The format for this three-day tournament was a modified matched play using a point system. The overall winner was Bev Reynolds with Susan Wiese coming in second.

In the first flight, Carol Miller took first place with Wanda Wideriksen coming in second. Priscilla Piper took third place. Dee Walker came in first in the second flight. There was a tie for second place between Carla Gibson and Tina Sexton. Following the tournament, the players enjoyed a delightful luncheon at the Graeagle Meadows Club House.

Plumas CASA tourney

Winners of the Plumas CASA Golf Tournament Sunday, June 13, were Leon Jeffrey, Neil Whitman, Robin Daun and Brandon Compton. They won a $100 gift certificate to Caf Le Coq.

The last place team consisted of Jeff Ludvigson, Mile Nellor, Tim Gallagher and Randy Wilson; they received golf lessons from Steve Ross.

The tournament was a big success, with 40 registered golfers and 52 donors, primarily local businesses who sponsored tees and donated prizes.
