The Plumas National Forest proposes to issue four businesses, five-year Outfitting and Guiding permits for fishing and hunting. These permittees have operated under temporary one-year permits in the past. To meet the new Outfitting and Guiding directives and to be more efficient, these permits will be issued for five years.  The hunting permits are for the Plumas National Forest. The fishing permits are for Lake Davis, Frenchman Lake, Gold Lake, Antelope Lake, Almanor at the Canyon Dam Boat Launch and Little Grass Valley Reservoir. Special Use Permit

The Plumas National Forest, Mt. Hough Ranger District, is seeking public comment on a special use permit that would be issued to Adventure Outings of California State University at Chico. This permit would authorize outfitter & guide activities on the Mt. Hough and Feather River Ranger Districts.  Permitted outfitter & guide activities would include hiking and rock climbing. The decision would be valid for a term of 5 years, through December 31, 2014.

Scoping Notice

Meadowview/Rowland Restoration Project

Plumas National Forest

Beckwourth Ranger District

      The Beckwourth Ranger District, Plumas National Forest will conduct a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) environmental analysis to restore 256 acres of meadow floodplain and 2.3 miles of channels in the upper reaches of the Last Chance Creek and Frenchman Lake watersheds.   The project area is comprised of two treatment areas.   The Meadowview component includes 20 acres of private lands and 4 acres of National Forest System lands, and the Rowland component includes 223 acres of private land and 9 acres of National Forest System lands.   The project is located approximately seven air miles west of Doyle, CA.   The project will also undergo California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) analysis, with Plumas County as the Lead Agency.   The project, proposed in partnership with the Feather River Coordinated Resource Management Group and the private landowners, would restore ecosystem function of the degraded channel/floodplain systems using the pond and plug technique to remove streamflow from the gullied channels, and re-direct it into existing remnant channels on the surface of the meadow.

The project area is located approximately seven air miles northeast of Portola, CA, and is comprised of 47 acres of National Forest System lands, and 206 acres of private land. The project will also undergo California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) analysis, with Plumas County as the Lead Agency. The project, proposed in partnership with the Feather River Coordinated Resource Management Group and the Goodwin Ranch, would restore the ecosystem function of the degraded channel/floodplain system using the pond and plug technique to remove streamflow from the gullied channel, and re-direct it into existing remnant channels on the surface of the meadow. The proposal also includes fencing for improved grazing management.
