The Almanor Ranger District of the Lassen National Forest is planning to implement a prescribed underburn in Plumas County, roughly 10 miles northwest of Chester.
A total of 140 acres are planned for ignition starting on Wednesday, Oct. 23 and continuing through Oct. 29, conditions permitting.
This burning is designed to enhance existing defensible fuel profile zones that were previously thinned. Communities or smoke sensitive areas that could be impacted are the Almanor Basin, Feather River Rod and Gun Club, Stump Ranch and Childs Meadows.
