Whitehawk Ranch Ladies Golf Club

Sept. 18, 2013

Tuesday was the first day of our 2013 Club Championship. The skies were beautiful but the wind was howling when the ladies took to the tee. It indeed was a fun but challenging day of competition. But today the weather was perfect and the ladies were trying to overcome nerves and play their best rounds. The scores of both days were combined.

The gross division was tightly contested. Marcia Zeigler is again our Club Champion with a score of 165. In a close second was Patty McNamara with a 166! Great playing ladies!

Chris Hyatt won the Captain’s Cup as the net division champ with a score of 134. Runner up was Mary Ann Crowe with a score of 140. Congrats to all the winners and all the ladies who gave it their best.

Champagne was poured, toasts were made, and cake was also appreciated by all.

LAWWGC

The West Shore ladies played their last game of the summer on Thursday, Sept. 19. The game of choice was Las Vegas Amigas. Julie Azevedo won first place with a score of 64 in the first flight, Linda Kluge was second with a 66 and Kathi Shennan also had a 66 for third.

Shirley Friedrichs was first in the second flight. Her score was 67. Cyndy Horn was the second place winner with a 68 and Karen Nelson’s score of 68 netted her third place.

There were two birdies and two chip-ins. Karen Tratt had a birdie on hole 7 and Kathi Shennan on hole 6. The chip-ins were by Kathy Doms on hole 15 and Karen Nelson on hole 18.

The season’s finale will be on Thursday, Sept. 26, and is the annual Invite Your Mate tournament which is always jokingly referred to as the Hate Your Mate tournament. Lunch will follow afterwards at the clubhouse.

Graeagle Meadows

Monday Madness

The format for Graeagle Meadows Monday Madness on Sept. 16 was 3 - 2 - 1. That is, three net scores count on the first hole, two net scores count on the second hole and a single net score counts on the third hole. Starting on the fourth hole, the scoring repeats.

First place was won by the team of John Grasso, Tom Fregulia, Lorraine Cornish and Jack Cornish with a score of 123. Second place was won by Holly Anderson, Dan Anderson, Jim Oster and Dee Walker with a score of 124. There was a tie for third place between the team of Wanda Wideriksen, Bob McIlroy, Lynn Hogan and Rick Hogan, and the team of Bill Smidt, Duane Austin, John Lighthill and Tom Gossett with a score 125.

Graeagle Meadows Wednesday Men’s Play Day

Due to many conflicting golf events during the week of Sept. 16, there were fewer players than usual for the Graeagle Meadows Wednesday Men’s Play Day. In that week there was on Monday Madness, Tuesday Team Play at Plumas Pines, Thursday Mountain Men’s Mixer at Whitehawk Ranch, and Friday Badditos and Bandits at Graeagle Meadows. That was a week with a lot of golf.

Since there were so few of the White Tee Flight players, only a Combo Tee Flight competition was held. The winner was Marv Pierce with a net score of 69. Second place was a tie between Jim Oster and Tom Fregulia with a net score of 71.

There were nine skins awarded. Jim Oster won three skins, Tom Fregulia and Marv Pierce each won two skins, while Tom Gossettt and Duane Austin each won one skin.

Mt. Huff Golf Scores

The morning dawned chilly for the Mt. Huff Golf Course Wednesday Morning Scramble. The chill didn’t deter the spirits of the golfers, however.

In first place at nine under par was the team of Todd Posch, Darel Joseph and Jeff Stevens.

Coming in at eight under par was the team of Leo Sorosinski, Ron Christensen and Greg Stevens.

Closest to the pin was won by Todd Posch and Bill McRoberts and Dick Grace shared the chip-in.

Thursday evening continued to be cool, but there was a good turnout for the Thursday evening scramble.

In first place at six under par were team members Todd Posch, Todd Johns, Gary McClellan, and Lynn McClellan.

At four under par, the second place honors went to the team of Jeff Stevens, Dick Grace, Carol Metzdorf and Gary Metzdorf.

Long drive winner was Jeff Stevens and Todd Posch took closest to the pin.

Graeagle Meadows Women’s Ace Of Aces Qualifier

Thursday, Sept. 19, was the final qualifier for the annual Ace of Aces Playoff, which will be played on Thursday, Sept. 26. Congratulations go to this month’s qualifiers: Low gross, Susie Wiese, with a score of 105, and low net Giuliana Glazer, with a net 76. Once a player has qualified, she is eligible to win in her flight, but not for overall low gross or low net Ace of Aces qualifier. All Ace of Aces play is from the Red Tees.

Additionally, one low gross and two low net places were paid in each of three flights: First flight low gross, Susie Wiese (105); first low net, Joanne Lake (77), and second low net, Ellen Fearing (78). Second flight low gross winner was Ann Pratt (106); low net was a tie between Linda Bilger and Dee Walker, each with a net score of 77. Third flight low gross was Karen Fraser (110); first low net, Giuliana Glazer (76); second low net, Pat Grew (77). Congratulations to all.
