In the market for a desk or a filing cabinet?
Plumas Unified School District is holding an auction Saturday, Aug. 17, at the school district’s bus barn, which is located at 113 North Mill Creek Road in Quincy.
The public is invited to view the items beginning at 8 a.m., with the silent auction to follow at 9 a.m. Bidding closes at 10 a.m. and successful bidders have until noon to claim their merchandise.
Available items include student and teacher desks and chairs, tables, filing cabinets, science kits, textbooks, televisions, projectors, VCRs, file folders and board games.
There is even a piano and a truck for bidders to consider.
Terry Oestreich, the school district’s director of human resources, shared details of the auction with the school board Aug. 1, and received their authorization to conduct the auction.
It’s not a big money maker for the school district. Last year’s event brought in $740, but it’s a way for the district to discard surplus items.
The event takes place during the weekend of the Plumas Sierra County Fair, so Oestreich hopes that visitors will stop by the auction on their way to the fair.
