75 YEARS AGO..........1938

    The 1937-38 winter season fell short of the precipitation record of last year by 5.56 inches in the Plumas National Forest — 67.66 inches compared with 73.22 inches.

    Summit School at Vinton was burglarized sometime within the last ten days. The burglar gained access by prying off the lock on the door. Tools, a first aid kit and school materials were stolen.

50 YEARS AGO..........1963

    Advertisement: Too hot to cook? Eat out: Moons Cafe in Quincy offers Chinese food $1.25 and up. Greenhorn Guest Ranch near Spring Garden offers dinners from $2.95. Plumas Pines Resort at Lake Almanor serves a Saturday night prime rib special for $3.95 or partake of an open air dance and barbecue dinner at Paxton Lodge in the Feather River canyon for $1.50.

25 YEARS AGO..........1988

    Plumas County has experienced a nearly two-week heat spell with 100-plus degree temperatures.

    The nineteen members of the 1988-89 Plumas County Grand Jury was drawn and installed with Graeagle resident George Ross appointed foreman.

10 YEARS AGO..........2003

    A massive rock slide closed Highway 70 west of Rock Creek in the Feather River canyon Friday morning closing traffic to one-way traffic. The huge rock formation was dismantled by blasting the rock into smaller pieces that were more readily able to be hauled away to clear the highway.
