Vacation Bible School offers ‘county fair’ theme

For more than 40 years the Chester Church of Christ J.O.Y. bus was a common sight on Chester Streets each Sunday morning as it picked up and delivered the community’s children for Bible Hour.

Once again this June, the highly recognizable, yellow trimmed with brown J.O.Y. bus will rumble through the Chester area to pick up the children who will be attending the annual Vacation Bible School the week of June 17 – 21.

This year a traveling mission group from Colorado, composed of four children, four college students and five adults will create a “county fair” atmosphere to bring an inspirational program titled “It’s a Blue-Ribbon Life” to Chester.

Bible lessons will include the spiritual attributes of “longsuffering and faithfulness,” “kindness and goodness,” “joy and peace,” “gentleness and self control” and “Jesus, our model of love.”

“Also included in the daily program will be games, prizes, refreshments, singing and fun for youth aged 4 years up through the teens,” Keith Crummer said.

The daily program will start at 9:30 each morning and parents are encouraged to ride the free bus service. The bus will leave the church building at noon each day to return the riders to their homes.

If you would like more information about the week-long program or would like to ride the J.O.Y. bus, call Jim Benner at 258-2421 or Keith Crummer at 259-2572.

Vacation Bible School is a free service offered to the community by the Church of Christ. No offerings will be accepted.

The Chester Church of Christ is located at 1182 Warner Valley Road.
