The Feather River softball team swept the College of the Siskiyous last Saturday in a doubleheader. The lady Eagles opened up their conference play at home. The wins put FRC up to 2-0 in conference play and 7-9 overall.

In the first game the Eagles kept Siskiyous from scoring a run up until the bottom of the last inning. Feather River scored one run in the second and three more in the third.

Lindsay Ashbaugh did a phenomenal job pitching for the Eagles, striking out nine Siskiyous players.

In the second game Ashlynne Neil opened the game for the Eagles with a poor first inning. Neil walked two girls and hit two girls to give the College of the Siskiyous a run. After the first inning, however, Neil wrapped her head around the game and didn’t give up any more runs.

The Eagles started a bit slower than their last game, but really pushed ahead in the fourth with five runs.

“I think we played very well,” said Feather River’s assistant coach Heather Kelley. “All the girls were really excited to open the season at home.”

This was the first time in six years the Feather River softball team has swept the College of the Siskiyous.
