  The regular season came to an end for the Plumas County girls basketball teams last week, but not before several exciting games took place.

Portola and Quincy

  The Portola Tigers have compiled best season out of all Plumas teams, with a 15-9 overall record and 6-4 in league. The Tigers lost to Colusa 49-42 Feb. 15, and fell to the Quincy Trojans 55-53 on Feb. 12.

  The Trojans ended their season a much better team than when they started. Though Quincy’s league record is 2-6, the point spread in the games the team lost was on average rather small. In addition to beating Portola, the Trojans lost to Williams on Feb. 15.

  The Feb. game between Quincy and Portola was a neck-and-neck battle the entire way. Portola got an early 6-2 lead, but minutes later Quincy came back to lead 10-6.

  A few minutes later Portola was up 14-12, but Quincy came back to keep the lead for the remainder of the game. Portola stayed right at Quincy’s heels, though, never allowing the Trojans to lead by more than six points.

  In the final quarter, Portola tied the game 43-43. Quincy quickly regained its lead and stayed ahead throughout the game’s final minutes.

  Kristin Wright led the Trojans into their victory with 22 points and nine rebounds. Jasmine Plummer made 16 points — 13 of which were in the first half.

  Portola, the number-five seeded team in Division V, once again took on Quincy, the number 12 team, Feb. 19. Details of the game will be in the Feb. 27 Sports section.

Greenville

  Greenville’s girls finished their season 4-17 overall and 2-8 in league after losing two games last week. The Indians lost 50-14 to Paradise Adventist Academy on Feb. 14 and 67-19 to Westwood two days prior.

Chester

  Chester fell to an even record with two losses last week. Chester’s 70-51 loss to Westwood on Feb. 13 and its low-scoring 46-27 loss to Hayfork the day before brought the Volcanoes’ record to 13-13 overall and 6-6 in league.

  The Volcanoes played Princeton on Feb. 19 in the first round of the playoffs. Chester was seeded 10th in Division VI. Details of the game will be in the Feb. 27 Sports section.
