two named club managers
Shift managers Jennelle Verderber and Soozie Yearwoodhave been promoted to co-managers of the day-to-day operations at the Lake Almanor Fitness Center in Chester.Garn Pringle, the center’s general operations manager, said this was an easy choice given these two very capable young ladies have a passion for fitness and keep the fitness center running smoothly and its clients happy “with or without me being there.” Jennelle is also a certified personal fitness trainer involved inZumba, aerobics, cardio, and boot camp group exercise classes.
Garn and his wife, Bunny,will remain actively involved in LAFC, but willbe enjoying some additional time off for recreational activities and family visits in the Sacramento area.
labor law update workshop
The Business and Career Network (Alliance for Workforce Development)is conducting a 2013 labor law update workshop Thursday, Jan. 24, at the Plumas-Sierra County Fairgrounds. Business Services Director Jan Prichard said topics covered during the two-hour workshop that gets under way at 9 a.m. will include social media and personal passwords, personnel record-keeping, fixed salaries and overtime, workers’ compensation reform, wage garnishments and other laws that apply to your business. new meat cutter joins market
Peninsula Market owners Wally and Chris Blem are pleased to announce that Dillon Martin is joining Bob Moreno in their meat department. Dillon grew up in Susanville and most recently worked at a popular food chain in Oregon, about eight stores, called Market of Choice. The Blems said that with Dillon’s experience in meat cutting and with wild game it will give them a greater variety of products and cuts.
“Our meat will remain all choice, including our ground beef. We will also begin making our own sausages (other than breakfast sausage), like Italian sausage, cheddar and jalapeño, and others that Dillon has perfected,” Wally said. The store is on the Lake Almanor Peninsula.
Nurse practitioner relocates
Plumas District Hospital’s adult gerontology nurse practitioner, Elizabeth McGee, has relocated to the Quincy Family Medicine building on Bucks Lake Road in Quincy. She is available Tuesday through Friday offering treatment for a broad range of health issues for both men and women. She spent the first nine years practicing at PDH’s North Fork Family Medicine.
westwood’s 4th chowder cook-off
