A Taylorsville woman was life-flighted to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno on Wednesday after she was injured in a single-vehicle accident on Highway 89 near Soda Rock.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Crystal Singletary, 19, suffered head, neck and chest injuries after her car plunged into Indian Creek.
Renown would not release Singletary’s condition, citing privacy concerns. However, her family reported that Singletary was in stable condition with a neck fracture and a collapsed lung.

“Crystal is stable and talking,” said her aunt, Marsha Ebersole, of Greenville. “She is banged up but so far otherwise in good spirits.”
Singletary’s 1998 Ford Contour was headed southbound when it left the road and landed upside down in the swollen creek about 2:33 p.m.
According to the CHP, Singletary was traveling “at an unsafe speed” with bald tires on the wet roadway.
The report indicated Singletary “made an unsafe movement” to keep her vehicle in the southbound lane and avoid an oncoming vehicle.
The CHP said Singletary’s car lost traction and drove across both lanes of Highway 89 and off the side of the road toward the creek.
After going over the embankment, the car came to rest on its hood, partially submerged in the water.
A citizen arrived at the scene and helped Singletary get out of the car, and waited with her until medical personnel arrived.
According to the report, Singletary said she had pain to her neck and a leg. She also suffered a deep cut to her forehead and scratches on her face.
Singletary was wearing a seatbelt.
