FRC Lady hoopsters fall to Shasta

The Feather River College women’s basketball team traveled to San Bruno on Nov. 16 for the Skyline College Tournament, where they lost 68-53 to the Shasta College Knights.

The first half of the game was fairly evenly matched. The Eagles fell back a little to follow the Knights 33-28 at halftime.

Feather River wasn’t able to shake its mental funk, and continued falling behind through to the end.

Despite losing the game, FRC coach Haley White has nothing but positive feelings about the season.

“Two aspects make this team different,” said White. “We’re a lot quicker than we ever have been at point guard and we’re much better shooters at the three spot.”

The combination of the quickness and ability to shoot the ball could make the team a threat. White is also striving for a better defense this season.

“My philosophy is that defense is going to win us games,” said White. “The more intense we are on defense, the more our offense will relax. Our offense will then shoot the ball more confidently.”

The lady Eagles travel to Yuba College on Nov. 27 and play at 5 p.m.
