Come join the fun at the Halloween Lake Almanor Area Chamber of Commerce mixer Thursday, Oct. 25, 5–7 p.m. at Morning Star Log Furniture. Storeowners and hosts Mike and Cathy Simmons invite everyone to the costume party and gathering at their showroom near the junction of highways 89 and 36.

Scott and Delores Satterlee at Mill Creek Fish and Chips are celebrating eight years in business with a very special customer appreciation day Sunday, Oct. 28, from noon to 4 p.m. In addition to live music from "dirty boots," there will be free hamburgers, hotdogs and drinks. It is there way of saying thanks to everyone who enjoys the wide array of delicious food served at this East Quincy eatery. Raffle tickets will be sold for a chance to win a fishing rod and gift certificates. All ages are welcome to join the fun.

Author Elizabeth Schadrack will be signing copies of her latest work, “Not Happy, Get Happy” at Epilog Books in downtown Quincy Friday, Oct. 26, 3–5 p.m.

Storeowner Christine Crawford said she regularly receives a number of “advanced reading copy” books that she sells for a suggested donation of $5 that benefits the Plumas Literacy Program.

Owner-broker Billy Taylor and owner-Realtor Jay Sabelman are excited to announce that Lake Almanor Brokers now has two convenient locations. In addition to their Lake Almanor office at 452 Peninsula Drive, they have just opened a second location at 119 Main St. (across from the Bidwell House) in Chester. Things get under way at Pangaea in downtown Quincy at 9 p.m. Live music will be by The Cottonpickers.

 “It’s a party to die for” at the Plumas Club in Quincy, also starting at 9 p.m., featuring the Jeff Pershing Band.

 Main Street Bar and Lounge is doing its Halloween Bash beginning at 8 p.m. with a costume party and cash prizes.

And, of course, there’s the legendary 33rd annual gala at the Sloat Towne Hall with music by The Rockers starting at 8:30 p.m.

Two parties in Westwood: The Double G Iron Horse Saloon on Ash Streetin Westwood is having its Halloween costume party 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.

The Moonlight Bar and Grill also begin at 9 p.m. There will be live music from Northern Traditionz, a costume contest and prize giveaways.
