Plumas County Tire Amnesty Day

Plumas County Public Works will hold a tire amnesty day Saturday, Nov. 6, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Public Works, 1834 East Main St. in Quincy.

Passenger truck or car tires without rims will be accepted. No more than nine tires will be accepted from any one user. (California law prohibits transport of more than nine tires at any time.) There is no charge for Plumas County residents.

Plumas Arts Gallery now open on weekends

  In response to concerns of downtown closures during the weekend Plumas Arts has decided to increase their weekend hours. Beginning Saturday, Oct. 16 The Plumas Arts Gallery will be open on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. right through until Christmas. These hours will be added to regular gallery and office hours of Wednesday to Friday from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Words & Music season begins

Words & Music returns from its traditional summer break with three October evening programs scheduled around the county.

First up is the Quincy Words & Music Thursday, Oct. 14, at Morning Thunder Café with featured artist Andrew Ohren.

In Portola Friday, Oct. 22, at The Feather Community Art Center featured musicians are Penny and Dude Berry.

Finishing up the month will be Jeff Ellermeyer as the featured musician Thursday, Oct. 28, in Chester at the Coffee Station.
