Highway 70 now open

Highway 70 is now open to two way traffic.
A rock slide has closed Highway 70. The highway is closed between Jarbo Gap in Butte County to the Greenville Wye (Highway 70/89 junction). No information on when the highway will be opened is available. More information will be posted as soon as it is available.
Public Health Director Mimi Hall resigns
Plumas County Public Health Director Mimi Hall resigned on Friday, March 9.
She said in her letter to the Board of Supervisors that she would remain in her Quincy office until April 20. She will be an employee of the county until June 7.
Hall has been the county’s lead person in charge of bringing back state-sanctioned alcohol and drug services.

County’s mental health director Sebold resigns
Plumas County Director of Mental Health John Sebold has resigned.
The long-time county department head submitted a letter of resignation to the county Board of Supervisors on Thursday morning, March 8.
In an email to the Mental Hyealth Commission, Sebold said he will be retiring in late May.

Service districts hope to win grant for new treatment plant study
The Quincy Community Services District agreed to bet a couple hundred dollars for a chance to win $100,000.
“It’s better than buying a lottery ticket,” Quincy board member Ruth Jackson said.
“Yes it is,” said Plumas County Community Action executive director David Keller.

School recall effort underway: Board member quits post
After the Plumas Unified School District superintendent and two school board members received notices that a recall effort was underway to remove them from office, one school board member abruptly quit.
Brad Baker, who represents the Quincy area, stood and said, “I will save the district the cost of a recall election – I quit.”
