Feather River College production horse sale Saturday

Buy a horse that has been to college at the Feather River College 13th Annual Production Horse Sale on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the FRC Equine Facility in Quincy, California.

The live auction kicks off at 1 p.m. following the sale preview at 9 a.m.  Set to be auctioned are top Quarter Horse bloodlines and versatile riding horses trained by the top FRC Equine Studies students.  Students work daily riding their sale horses in classes, traveling to horse shows, working on cattle ranches, riding horses on trails, and working with top trainers such as Les Vogt, Nick Dowers, Jim, Luke, and Bryan Neubert. All horses are guaranteed sound.

Quincy going crazy for quilts

Carolyn Kenney is co-vice president of Quincy Crazy Quilters, a quilting instructor at Feather River College and an Eleanor Burns Quilt in a Day certified instructor. She is also the featured quilter for the guild’s biennial quilt show, Crazy About Quilts.

Crazy About Quilts runs May 21 – 22, at the Plumas-Sierra County Fairgrounds in Quincy.

EQSD board votes to end consolidation process

By a 3-2 vote, the East Quincy Services District (EQSD) voted Tuesday, May 10, to officially end the consolidation process with the Quincy Community Services District (QCSD).

The decision by EQSD, which will be presented to the Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCo) in resolution form, effectively ends the 16-year consolidation effort by Quincy’s two service districts.

FRC trustees reluctantly order classified staff reductions

Despite the inevitable outcome, classified staff and students at Feather River College packed the college district’s board of trustees meeting Tuesday, May 10, to ask the board of trustees for consideration.

On the agenda was a resolution to eliminate 5.23 full-time equivalency (FTE) classified staff positions and 1.5 FTE management positions.

Plumas-Eureka on state park closure list

Plumas County’s only state park, Plumas-Eureka State Park (PESP), is on the list of 70 parks to be closed for the next two fiscal years, California State Parks (CSP) announced Friday, May 13.

The PESP closure is unlikely to have much of an effect this summer because a scheduled hazardous materials cleanup meant most facilities would be closed anyway, said Matt Green, acting district superintendent for the park agency’s Sierra District.
