A 27-year-old Reno resident, identified to KOLO TV as Derek Cahoon, drowned in the Indian Falls area Sunday, April 18. The Plumas County Sheriff’s Office reported the young man was swept downstream while swimming and couldn’t be located by friends accompanying him.

Apparently sometimes it only takes one rodent to mess up an entire day.
That's exactly what happened around 8 a.m. on Thursday, April 15, when a Frontier Communications line was chewed through by a rodent, causing a phone and DSL outage for roughly 17,000 customers in Susanville, Chester and Alturas.
Plans for a new courthouse in Quincy for the Superior Court of Plumas County has received formal approval to begin, with funding authorization April 12 by the State Public Works Board. This approval marks the official start of the courthouse construction project, which will be managed by the state Administrative Office of the Courts.
