In a stunning victory for tax limitation initiative proponents, Butte Superior Court Judge Thomas Kelly ruled in favor of their right to write the ballot language; ordered Plumas District Hospital to hold a mail ballot election Aug. 31; and granted a temporary restraining order preventing the hospital from selling any more bonds until the election has occurred.

The Plumas County Board of Supervisors voiced concerns at a meeting Tuesday, May 4, about the Plumas National Forest’s plans to raise camping and boating fees in the Feather River Canyon, Bucks Lake and Antelope Lake areas.
Acting Assistant Resource Officer Lisa Sedlacek, from the Mt. Hough Ranger District, presented the changes to the board and tried to address the supervisors’ concerns.

Community Development Commission Executive Director David Keller recently told his board of commissioners some of the large common rooms at Wildwood Village, located in downtown Chester, would probably be turned into living spaces to make the project more affordable.
