Seneca may go to half-time management

    The Seneca Healthcare District may again be looking at a change in administration, this time driven by the financial decisions made by another rural, critical access hospital.

    The potentially influencing hospital, Mayers Memorial, a district hospital in Fall River Mills, may bring about this change by entering into a management contract with Renown Hospital of Reno, Nev.

    Jeanette Brauner is retiring as Plumas County children’s librarian after 31 years  —  a simple sentence that says a lot, as generations of children and former children are saddened by her departure.

 

Tour explores Maidu way of life

    Sierra Institute Center of Forestry invites residents and visitors to experience a Maidu way of life on a special tour Saturday, May 15. 

Farrell Cunningham, whose Mountain Maidu ancestors have lived in the valley for thousands of years, will guide the tour.

    A packed courtroom, presided over by a retired judge of Butte Superior Court, the Honorable Thomas Kelly, listened April 27 as petitioners for the Plumas District Hospital Tax Limitation Initiative brought an ex parte application.
