Sweet smelling and full of life: Antelope campgrounds are ready for visitors

Campgrounds of the Antelope Lake Recreation Area have new, "sweet-smelling" vault toilets installed, some of which are fully accessible, and campers are invited to witness the quiet beauty of the burgeoning vegetation and wildlife.

A total of 11 new toilets were installed at Antelope Lake campgrounds, including eight at Lone Rock and three at Long Point group and family campgrounds.

 

CHP nabs kidnapping suspect after Amber Alert sighting in Lassen County

The Susanville area California Highway Patrol have in custody two adults allegedly involved in a possible kidnapping that occurred shortly before 10 a.m. today, Friday, July 9. The traffic stop occurred at the Honey Lake Rest Stop, south of Janesville on Highway 395.    

 

The Sacramento Sheriff's Department said no children were involved in the Amber Alert issued earlier today.

 

Initial reports of what transpired earlier in the day are now blurred. We will keep you posted on further updates as we receive them. 

 

 

Go back in history during Gold Discovery Days

Adventure seekers will be converging on Plumas Eureka State Park in Johnsville on Saturday and Sunday, July 17 – 18. The annual Gold Discovery Days celebration will be in full swing from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

Sunday will kick off at 8 a.m. with the acclaimed pancake breakfast hosted by Portola Rotary Club, with musical accompaniment provided by Code Blue Grass. An added feature of the breakfast is the Sunday morning drawing, with many valuable prizes from the park’s gift shop.

 

Lightning across Plumas County

The first lightning storm of the season rolled across Plumas County Wednesday afternoon.  The storm moved up from the Tahoe/Truckee area to the Middle fork of the Feather River.  It then turned to the north east and moved across Quincy and up to Lake Almanor.

Jess and Neil Horning of Liquid Blue, the promoters of the Momboosa event in Chester, donated 40 general admission and four VIP tickets for the local drawing. When clients visited the participating businesses, they could sign up - no purchase was necessary. The winners were drawn at the local Chamber meeting Wednesday, July 14, 2010.
